Pixi Beauty On-the-Glow Blush

/ IN THIS ARTICLE
Cream blush is a key makeup product for keeping skin looking dewy and fresh. Some even contain extracts and antioxidants for an extra radiance boost. It’s important to me to look dewy, not greasy. I tried out Pixi Beauty’s On-the-Glow Blush to see if it would give me the radiance and glow I was after. Spoiler alert: I was quite pleased with the results.

PIXI BEAUTY ON-THE-GLOW BLUSH

BEST FOR: Balanced to dry skin

USES: Cheeks and lips

POTENTIAL ALLERGENS: Hydrogenated castor oil, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, Red 6, Red 7

PRICE: $18

ABOUT THE BRAND: Makeup artist Petra Strand founded Pixi Beauty over 20 years ago to create nourishing skincare and beauty products that are easy to use on the go.

About My Skin: An avid cream blush wearer

I wear makeup daily, and cream blush is one of my favorite products. I do like powder blush formulas as well, but for daily use, I’m always reaching for cream formulas. I tend to have combination/oily skin that gets shinier as the day goes on. Some cream blush formulas I reach for often are Westman Atelier, Kjaer Weiss, and RMS Beauty.

How to Apply: Directly on the cheeks

Applying this blush is quite straightforward, which is another thing I love about it. Simply twist it up until there’s enough product out of the tube, smile, and glide the blush in an upward motion on the apples of the cheeks out toward the edge of your face. You can blend out the blush with a brush or your fingers so it looks natural. You can continue to build the pigment by layering the product on the apples of the cheeks until you get your desired result.

The Results: Dewy, flushed skin

I truly loved the way this blush settled onto my skin and how radiant it looked. I was also impressed with how long it wore on most days, even in hot summer weather. The color is just enough for me to add a healthy-looking glow to my complexion, and it’s so easy to apply that it’s now the blush I reach for every day. When first applied, the pigment can be a bit bright, so I definitely needed to blend it with a brush each time so that it looked softer and more natural.

testing insight:

I truly loved the way this blush settled onto my skin and how radiant it looked.”

The Value: Comparable to more expensive products

For $18 and considering the color payoff, easy application, and wear, it’s a definite value. It gives the same benefits and performance as many luxury cream blushes I’ve tried.

Similar Products: You've got options

Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick ($48): Create a natural flush on cheeks, lips, and lids with this multi-purpose blush stick that has buildable pigment and glides onto skin. There are six shades to choose from—double the amount that Pixi Beauty offers but for more than twice the price.

Makeup By Mario Soft Pop Blush Stick ($28): Add a healthy dose of color to cheeks with this cream blush. Though it costs a bit more than Pixi Beauty’s blush, the dual-sided product includes a brush for seamless blending and building.

ILIA Multi-Stick ($34): This multi-purpose cream blush can be used on the eyes, cheeks, and lips to give a healthy dose of color to the skin. It comes in a wider shade range than most other cream blushes.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly cream blush that provides natural-looking pigment, Pixi Beauty’s On-the-Glow Blush may be for you. It’s easy to use, comes in three beautiful shades, and adds a beautiful pop of color to any complexion.
